I am writing this post to in optimism. To be all USB-C by the end of the year.
I actually had it in my drafts that I hoped to be all USB-C by the end of '23. Finances didn't quite justify, but I think I can get there now, especially because instead of putting it in my drafts, I'm publishing it on the blog. So now there's a chance someone will ask "are you all USB-C" and I hope to say yes!
I already had a number of things that charged via USB-C
✅ Laptop
✅ Cameras - both can be charged by plugging a USB-C cable directly into the camera. The OM-1 batteries pair with a charger that is USB-C powered. The canon battery charger plugs directly into the wall
My recent upgrades were
✅ Lighting (all my Elinchrom lights are USB-C powered!) The FIVE you even plug the USB-C cable into the spare batteries
✅ Charger Technically this isn't something powered by USB-C but rather something that powers USB-C, but it certainly needed to be purchased to support my USB-C goal
✅ Tough TG-7
✅ Kindle. My kindle, which was a hand-me-down from my sister, finally saw it's demise with a cracked screen. It was over 10 years old though, it had a great run/read!
Remaing
✅iPhone
Unlikely to Switch Out
🚫 Baby monitor. this is the best baby monitor and we still use it from time to time, like if we are in the hot tub when the kids are sleeping, just in case. I'm not sure if the updated models (this is from when we had our first in 2019) have USB-C, but if they do, I'm switching!
🚫 Car. While my friend's RIVIAN is all USB-C, our car still uses USB-A plugs. But, at least the compatibility means I can put an A-C cable in the car and it can still power my USB-C devices.
Check It
If I wait long enough, sure, pretty much everything will be USB-C by default (remember the pushback when Mac first went USB-C?!) I'm just riding the wave a little early because I favor ease and efficiency.
Check In
What about you? Are you a USB-C convert or do you have all kinds of cables everywhere.
