Buy Me a Coffee - If You're So InclinedAs KLC fotos grows and more photographers discover my work both as a freelancer and business owner, I am asked to meet up for coffee. When my kids were toddlers the answer was no, there is no time for anything. But now that they are in school, I fooled myself into thinking I had the bandwidth to meet for coffee... with the true irony being that I don't even drink coffee! I recently met up with Joyce Xi. She’s done some assignments for KLC fotos, is already a full-time photographer doing great community work, and is just looking how to get into sports. While I loved connecting with her and getting more information about her goals to offer tangible advice, when I got home and had emails to respond to, photos to edit, not to mention dishes to put away, I was reminded that I actually still do not have the time to meet up. I don’t want to charge for my time, but I need to. Not to make money, but to make sure that the people who are asking for my time, value my time! (This isn't to say that Joyce specifically didn't value my time, she was very appreciative and I enjoyed our conversation!) Of course there are endless resources on KLC fotos, but here I’m offering industry insight specific to my personal experiences and career. So I’m going to add this buy me a coffee to most blogs. If reading them gives you a feeling like we just sat down for a great coffee and you are getting some feedback and insight that’s valuable to you- buy me a coffee! As a Substack alternative, I’m not asking you to subscribe, I’m not paywalling my posts, I’m just asking that if you find what I do valuable and want to find a way to demonstrate that appreciation buying me a coffee. You are also welcome to include in the notes a request for a topic you'd like me to review. Maybe you are an established photographer and you don't need the resources I share, but you want to demonstrate your appreciation for how I'm helping support the industry, you can show you support by buying me a coffee. If you want to deep dive and make this a two-way conversation, feel free to book a one-on-one session. Comments
