Another year in the books covering the Allstate Sugar Bowl. This is always a fun way to close out the year and start the new year.

My role includes covering the head coach press conference, parade and fan fest.

And I'll typically try to cover at least a bit of the concerts. This year Maren Morris and Florida Georgia Line.

This year I also covered the Allstate Good Works team event and the Hall of Fame Brunch.

Oh and of course, the game where Texas defeated Georgia 28-21.

With QB MVP Elingher proclaiming about the Texas Longhorns "We're baaaaaaack".

Though the ESPN highlight reel was much more dedicated to the story of the mascot faceoff between Texas Longhorns live steer, Bevo and Georgia Bulldogs, live bulldog Uga. Bevo knocking over a barricade in attempt to get a little Uga. Even after that event, ESPN was still committed to getting the clip so they tied up Bevo for the rest of the game and Uga's handler held him next to Bevo. I'm very impartial to dogs so I loved little Uga, but making an animal the size of Bevo stand in a cage tied up to wall in a stadium full of screaming fans, for hours, does seem like an pretty bad idea. To try and stage a faceoff between the two animals for a video clip, well, they are hopefully going to reconsider that.

While every year I hope to get good action photos, and take my starburst Superdome and logo photo. This year, I wanted to give more priority to fan photos.

But you can't back up much further without being on the playing field. So I opted for longer glass, even going for the 300mm and getting the angle from across the field to better capture the fans.

Though the most famous "fans" were Evander Holyfield who is father to one of the Georgia players, and what Texas game is complete without a Matthew McConaughey spotting.

The game is exciting, but truly, what I look forward to each year of covering the Sugar Bowl, is working with the communications staff, credential staff, all the support staff who work the Sugar Bowl, that I only get to see once a year but it feels like a reunion with old friends in the incredible city of New Orleans.
