I bought the 24-105mm f/4 when I first went back to canon to use for portraits.
When I purchased the 24-105mm f/2.8 I anticipated selling my f/4. But I found I enjoyed having a compact portrait lens that I could easily keep mounted on an R5 Mk II body. And saving the f/2.8 for sports action.
