This week, OM Digital Solutions announced the OM-3 and it might just be what everyone is looking for.

Everyone loves a retro camera and my understanding is that “kids these days” are very into carrying point-and-shoot cameras. But do you know what else they love, filters!

While I don’t care about filters so much, I did order myself an OM-3 and I gotta say I’m VERY excited.

As a mom, I tend to fall victim to just taking photos with my iPhone  it’s great quality with computational support, Live Photos and really “good enough” for sending photos of my kids to our extended family and funny things I see to my sister and other friends. But when we go camping or take vacations, I still find myself wanting to bring a “real camera”. I do often bring my OM-1 Mark II (removing the grip that I normally use for work) but I don’t find myself using it that much (or sometimes at all!)

Some of our friends bring legit film cameras, or instapix, and I often give my kids the Tough TG-7 because photography is fun!

But I am so excited for the OM-3 because I can now have all the “hip” benefits of the retro style camera, the weight benefits of a point-and-shoot, the quality benefits close to a flagship mirrorless, that charges via USB-C and takes my OM-1 Mark II batteries and is weather sealed.

Despite still thinking that canon or Sony will likely be part of my future investment, I am so glad to still be an Olympus/OM Digital Solutions photographer because it just makes photography fun!
