For the third year in a row, I'll be speaking at the Peter Read Miller Northern California Workshop in Santa Clara.

While they are learning photography tips from one of the best in the business, Peter Read Miller himself (along with support from Greg Cooper and Jordan Murph), I'll be speaking on How to Build a Career in Today's Sports Photography Industry. Peter and I followed a somewhat similar paths, both Economics majors who were photographing our college teams (Peter at USC and yours truly at Cal, Go Bears!). Peter's transition from USC to Sports Illustrated isn't exactly a career path anymore since SI laid off all of their staff photographers. So I'm there to speak on how I've navigated my way into having a career in sports photography both with my freelance career with USA Today Sports Images and founding KLC fotos.

After my talk, the class will get a chance to photograph the Earthquakes at Avaya Stadium which I will coincidentally also be covering for USA Today Sports Images!
