Tonight I headed over to Cal to photograph both the California Alumni Association's Young Alumni Hoops Party and the Cal Men's Basketball v #1 ranked Arizona.

The hoops party are always a great time and this time everyone enjoyed a visit by former player and current director of operations, Theo Robertson.

Rallying around David before he meets Goliath. Whether David is David Kravish and Goliath is Allan Gordon.

I love shooting basketball and I'm so fortunate to be able to witness so many great competitive games. But as with any sport, there are games that are less-than thrilling or otherwise visual... this was NOT one of those games! It's great to witness a game where EVERY possession mattered

In this case, especially the last! With seconds remaining on the clock, tied at 58-58. Justin Cobbs put up the game-winning jumper leaving 0.9 left in the game.

Fans stormed the court before having to go back to their seats to play out the final tenth of seconds and getting a chance to storm again. Unfortunately I'm not used to getting in the rush mix and none of my shots from the pack really turned out, but I did get the game winning shot.

That photo made espn.com and as I shared a screenshot to facebook, I received something like 100 likes and wonderful comments mainly from people who only 'follow me' on facebook and don't know that this wasn't the first time one of my images has been published by espn. It's great to feel so supported by so many people, even if they don't understand my work or my industry. To them, I've reached some pinnacle of success... to myself, I know there is still much to aspire to achieve. But it's nice to be reminded to take pride in where I am now!

And of course - a big shout out to Lauren Mackson who was the on desk editor. I tend to leave my images with a loose crop that keeps 4:3 ratio and leaves a lot of room for a client to crop. When Lauren posted my image to USATodaySportsImages.com she had cropped in tighter for a more horizontal shot. And then espn cropped in even tighter for the end result you see on their site. Everyone has their own eye!
