Though I've taken head shots multiple times for Cal, Cal State East Bay and even San Jose Earthquakes, it's a special treat to not only take head shots of NBA players but also have some time to do some more creative and fun shots with them.

So I never had to chase a player down or worry that I was going to miss one of the players. Most often with sports I am just documenting what is happening on the court, field, pool, etc, as a sort of fly on the -ground- with a very big camera. But it's fun to get to set up and direct a shoot a little more and very humanizing to get to interact with the players. Though I must say, being older than half the roster makes me feel ancient - not to mention my birthday is coming up! =)

Once I got my standard headshot, check mark, the guys were able to show a little more of their personality. Some (I'm looking at you, DeMarcus Cousins!) are goof troops that love to ham it up for the camera - while others are a little bit more reserved. All were very friendly and accommodating and I am so looking forward to covering their games this season. With the new ownership group, I think it's going to be a great year for the Kings!
