The weekend immediately following Ben and Gina's wedding, the first wedding I ever photographed, I headed up to the Diamond S Ranch to photograph L and R's wedding.

This wedding was different in a lot of ways. In this case, the groom was someone I grew up with. L is the son of my mom's bestest buddy since kindergarten. He calls my mom Auntie Colleen, my dad was there for his first steps, and the entire family is like family to me. As his sister said recently, it wasn't until a few years ago she realized we weren't actually related.

It was also out at the family ranch with sprawling space, versus the small garden wedding in Monterey.

It was amazing to see how the barn which normally houses ATVs for the Explore! Sierra Touring Company was turned into a beautiful wedding site, finding the balance between classy and country without being redneck.

It's neat because 11 years ago to the day, his sister Michelle, married Calen on a different part of the ranch. And now has a family of her own.

Just as I loved the brick wall as a background for G and B's wedding. I loved the side of the barn as a background for L and R whether it was for cute pictures of L with his niece.

The morning started with some rain and there were some ominous looking clouds.

But by the time the ceremony started, it turned into a beautiful day!

Albeit a little windy.

But R was such a laid back bride, she wasn't even concerned that people started eating off the cupcake tree before they had their ceremonial feeding of the cake to each other.

She also got prepared in Ken's office inside the barn... that doesn't have a single mirror! Trusting her mom, best friend and sister.

Something I've learned about myself in the two weddings I've photographed, is that I can't help but cry during father daughter dances

I'm so happy to have been a part of their big day and had the chance to spend some time out at the ranch which makes me even more excited for next week out in Cody, Wyoming with my cousins!

And I'm most happy that Little L found someone just as fun loving and free spirited as him.
