Giants defeat Tigers 8-3 World Series Game 1

Headed back to AT&T Park for Game 1 of the World Series between the San Francisco Giants and the Detroit Tigers.

Barry Zito started on the mound for the Giants. The same Barry Zito who was completely left off the post season roster for Giants 2010 World Series Championship, the same Barry Zito who saved the Giants from elimination against the Cardinals in the NLCS. And the same Barry Zito who pitched 5 scoreless innings, before letting a run in the sixth in Game 1 of the 2012 World Series!

Justin Verlander started on the mound for the Tigers. The same Justin Verlander who was last year's Cy Young winner, the same Justin Verlander who pitched a complete game of 9 scoreless innings to win the ALCS against the A's. And the same Justin Verlander who allowed five runs in four innings before being pulled from Game 1 of the 2012 World Series.

Though Justin Verlander is (perhaps was) considered the best pitcher in baseball right now, he was no match for Pablo Sandoval who hit a spectacular 3 home runs, 2 off of Verlander and one off of Al Alburquerque. As they are saying, a Panda attacked the Tigers ;)

Giants went on a bit of a scoring rampage in what was almost laughable as the Giants defeated the Tigers 8-3.

I took this shot of "Legends are Born in October" without even realizing the connection, as my sister pointed out, I was born in October!! =)

I'm so thankful for the opportunity to photograph the World Series. Thankful to a) the Giants for going this far b) US Presswire/USA Today Sports for continuing to use local me in addition to their big time staffers who cover EVERY World Series c) all my family, friends, and followers who are sharing this excitement with me! Funny to think that in 2010 World Series Game 1, I was kayaking to the game with KC (an AWESOME experience -blog post) - and now, two years later, I'm photographing the game!!
