Raised by a pilot father and a wanderlust mother, my sister and I spent a majority of our childhood flying standby. While we joked that standby often meant we would "stand" and say "bye" to flight we wanted to be on, we were lucky enough to traveling around the country (trivia: we've touched all 50 states) and internationally.
My early twenties continued a love of travel with and/or visiting friends. My late twenties involved lots sailing, backpacking and canyoneering trips thanks to the skill set of my spouse who does the literal and figurative "heavy lifting". Now, more often than not, we bring our kids along (though I wouldn't necessarily recommend a week-long sailing trip around Tahiti with a 2 year old and 10-month old, who cannot swim, I'm glad we did it!)
Still, my favorite adventures are just in my own back yard. Life is an adventure!
