Earthquakes defeat Sounders 2-1

After the Giants made my life easy by having a quick 8 and half inning victory, I immediately headed down to Buck Shaw Stadium to photograph the Seattle Sounders at the San Jose Earthquakes.

Originally, I wasn't assigned this game and was going to have the evening off, but thanks to a recommendation from the Earthquakes Frank Stanzl, I was hired by the Sounders to cover the game for them.

This meant not only game action but getting to shoot the entire atmosphere of the game from the perspective of a Sounders fan.

Though I love the Earthquakes, I was hoping for a good game for the Sounders.

Especially with their Christian Tiffert added to the roster.

Quakes scored in the second half and even though Sounders answer with a header by Freddy Montero

Quakes came back and scored in stoppage time for the win.

Funny story - Sounders posted a photo of my starting eleven shot. This is after the National Anthem, the starting players line up for a quick and disinterested shot that is usually all of three seconds of players half squatting.

Somebody must have thought it was an actual portrait attempt and not an in game thing with 10 other photographers simultaneously shooting, because the comments included:

Please no one come punching me in the face! Thankfully they are looking for a "he" but maybe I'll go hide just in case ;)
