Yellowstone National Park

Continuing along our way, there's certainly no complaints that to get to Cody you have to pass through Yellowstone National Park!

We tried to cruise through pretty quickly to catch Old Faithful and continue on to make it to the BBQ at Charlie's house. With some Kelley by Car shots, we got to pass some geographical wonders and beautiful scenes.

And made it with time to spare for Old Faithful.

As we waited, we met a new friend, Brad Snopek, who had been on a motorcycle adventure from Denver, up the California coast, and was now passing through Yellowstone before heading south and going home from his journey.

As we waited for Old Faithful, mother nature teased us by having small little bursts come out. All while a geyser across the park was just exploding for hours. Leaving Brad to comment, "Old Faithful, more like Old Let Down" haha

But alas, she erupted with such awe... Earth is AMAZING!

We said bye to Brad who continued on his motorcycle diaries adventure.

We went searching for bison, or as my grandma calls them, "Buffys". We were pretty excited when we saw one out in the field.

And then of course, I had to stop and have some fun with my macro lens.

Then we continued on and saw a huge bison grazing just off the side of the road.

But then, both bison spottings were blown out of the water when we spotted a herd crossing the road!

I'd like to point out, in both incidents where the bison were remotely nearby, we stayed in the car. I'm still upset by the people who were approaching the bison. If you are within 100 feet of a wild animal, you might (deserve to) get mauled and you are ruining the likelihood of other people being able to enjoy the park for generations to come. Though the animals may seem slow moving and calm, they are still WILD animals, National Parks are not to be confused with zoos :-P

We carried on, passed through parts damaged by fire, started by lightning, again, Earth is AMAZING.

And, as one might suspect we did not end up making it to the BBQ in Cody... too much excitement and bison traffic!
