Rangers defeat Athletics 6-1

Baseball is back in the bay! Not just for me who was galavanting about Wyoming, but for everyone now that the all star break is over. Everyone celebrate... or watch out!

Headed over to O.co Coliseum for the match up between the Texas Rangers and the Oakland Athletics.

I'm always impressed when you see a professional athlete who does not necessarily look like a professional athlete.

Then disappointed when their fitness (or lack their of) prevents them from doing the best job they can. Like on this play when Chris Carter dove to make the catch, prepared to throw the ball to first base (where normally the pitcher has stationed himself for the play) and Bartolo Colon was beat to the the bag by Craig Gentry.

Only moments later, Colon tried to catch him leading off first base, overthrew Carter, and Gentry ran all the way to third. And was eventually batted in

But it's not for lack of effort as Colon was able to catch Chris Young on a bunt running to first.

I'm always bummed out when fans boo players, but when Brandon Inge tried to make this diving catch and didn't quite get there in time before the ball bounced, I was happy to hear the fans applauding his effort. My take on athletics, if you try your best and don't win, at least you tried your best.

A's just need to improve so their best is better, as they fell to the Rangers 6-1. Easier said than done.
