Earthquakes defeat FC Dallas 2-1
Headed back to Buck Shaw Stadium for the matchup between FC Dallas and the San Jose Earthquakes. I'm getting spoiled with two soccer games in five days!

Marvin Chavez scored the first goal, also his first with the Earthquakes, poetically against his former team

And then Alan Gordon headed in another goal against Kevin Hartman.
In the second half, Quakes were playing with such intensity, you would have thought they were trailing, not 2 points ahead.

Chris Wondolowski made a nice penalty kick against Hartman...

But it was called back, and on the second attempt, Hartman was able to block it.

After FC Dallas scored a point in the 89th minute, and no one felt too threatened, until a penalty in the box brought on a penalty kick in stoppage time that would have led to a disappointing tie. I guess that's why, even when you're ahead, you play like your down.
With the pressure on for Quakes goalkeeper Jon Busch, Jaier Benitez took the penalty kick... and it went just over the crossbar!
I've never seen so much celebration after a goal NOT being scored as Quakes got away with the 2-1 win over Dallas.
